Its Monday y'all! Today we have Author E.Shanie chatting with us about her books and just HER!
Tell us a little about yourself:
My name is Eboni also known as E. Shanie is a twenty-six years old Queens, New York Native, but she currently resides in North Carolina. She became fascinated by the writing world after reading Wahida Clark's Thug Series. After reading that she would pen her own stories just for the fun of it. On April 1, 2017 she randomly decided to send in her manuscript that she was working on and she received a lot of responses. From there she decided to sign with her first publisher and released her first book July 2017. She now she has over ten books published and many more to come.
It seems like everyone remembers the exact moment they fell in love with writing or reading. When did you fall in love with writing?
I loved the fact that I am able to let my imagination run wild.
It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there. Why did you make the decision to become a published author?
I just randomly decided to turn in one of my stories I was working on as an April fools joke to myself. I honestly didn’t think I would get any responses to my submission.
Wow, that's awesome, so tell me who is your biggest supporter? And how?
I’m not completely sure who’s my biggest supporter but all forms of support is greatly appreciated.
Who is the biggest influence with your writing?
Reading authors like Karma Monae and Wahida Clark really pushed me into improving my craft.
Tell me your favorite quote:
“One of the greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than being yourself.”- Shannon L. Alder
Thats powerful, What genres do you write or wish to write?
Not sure but I am down to try different genres I just have to thoroughly research before pursuing.
When it comes to writing, are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am a true night owl.
What does a writing session look like for you?
A good TV series playing in the background or headphones in while I type.
If you were to write a book about yourself what would you name it? Why?
Not every smile is genuine. Only because there is more to me than just the surface.
What is one myth you would like to clear up about the literary world?
Shoot a lot of them are proven to be true. Well only the ones I’ve been hearing.
Tell us about your latest release.
Latest release is about Sonai and Zaiid. Complicated relationship overall but deep down they both love each other in a way no one else will.
What are some of your goals as an author?
To get me a set loyal fan base. To be able to interact with readers on a daily basis. A few Best Sellers would hurt either. lol
I feel that, lol we all want that banner at some point. What would you tell an aspiring author?
If you decided to go with a publisher make sure you really do your research. Don’t be afraid to ask other questions before signing a contract. Don’t be afraid ask some veteran authors question because I learned you get a lot done when you speak up and ask for help.
Who was your biggest inspiration?
Myself. Honestly I am the worst and best thing to myself. I can pump myself up to do just about anything but at the same time I am my worst enemy.
What mix would you describe yourself as?
Mix? I’m funny, misunderstood, blunt, loyal, and somewhat laid back. (depends on the mood)
If you could collaborate with any author who would it be?
Ohh I have a list. Karma Monae, Cherice Harris, Myia White, Kellz Kimberly. Shoot I wouldn’t turn down anyone though we just have to mash well together.
Why should someone read your work?
My thinking is a bit different. It isn’t always your average urban story. There’s always something different when I tell a story.
Thank you so much for chatting with me and allowing hopefully more readers to find a really dope book.
